CAFE offers teaching consultations upon request of a faculty member. All consultants
are senior faculty members who are considered experts in pedagogy, best teaching and
learning practices, and content experts. Faculty consultants are NOT part of your
formal evaluation process, all consultations are voluntary, formative, and individually
All consultants are held individually beginning with an introductory meeting to discuss
your needs and/or specific course goals.
Common Consultation Topics
Choose from a range of consultation subjects that best suits your needs. Feel free

Teaching Observation is a great tool that helps you become a more intentional instructor.
Prior to the observation, there will be a pre-brief session where you will be expected
to provide details of the course objectives and focus areas to the consultant. The
consultant will be able to get a sense of your class as a student will and share this
perspective with you in the after class review session. The consultant will help you
reflect on your teaching choices and understanding of your student learning needs.

CAFE also offers a structured way to gather midterm feedback from your students. Students
will be asked to participate and may volunteer as a participant in the course interview
process. These interviews will provide a safe space for students to give anonymous
course feedback to the CAFE consultant.
