The Center for Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFE) exists to offer dynamic programs and professional learning opportunities that will help retain and cultivate an engaged, collaborative, and diverse faculty at APSU. The Center promotes teaching excellence and student learning in an inclusive and active learning environment.

 

Programs within the CAFE include the following:

  • Faculty Leadership Program
  • First-Year Faculty Orientation Program
  • Faculty Mentoring Program

The Office of Decision Support and Institutional Research enhances institutional effectiveness by providing information which informs the decision-making and planning processes for furthering the university core mission.

Goals include:

  • Support university leaders in development and reporting of the strategic plan and Quality Assurance funding.
  • Provide and maintain a centralized location of institutional data to ensure accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on topics including but not limited to assessment, enrollment, retention, graduation, faculty FTE, and student credit hours.
  • Administer and submit IPEDS, University Fact Book, Common Data Set, US News, and other college guides.
  • Make available institutional and programmatic data for accreditation reports and program reviews.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment (OIEA) promotes institutional capacity for effective and meaningful outcomes assessment efforts and promotes common understanding and value in the use of assessment. The office supports the use of assessment results for unit and department improvement and institutional effectiveness and broader use of general education and institutional learning goal assessment data. The OIEA team also manages assessment processes at the institutional, department and program level, and is responsible for the institution’s participation in all aspects of the annual Tennessee Higher Education Quality Assurance Funding requirements, including program review.

The Office of the QEP leads the planning and evaluation efforts for the university's Quality Enhancement Plan.

The Quality Enhancement Plan, or QEP, is a university wide initiative designed to improve student learning and/or student success. It is an integral part of Austin Peay State University’s reaffirmation of accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). As defined by SACSCOC, the Quality Enhancement Plan “affirms a commitment to enhance overall institutional quality and effectiveness” by “improving student learning outcomes and/or student success.”
