Certain registration restrictions require permits in order to be permitted in to a course. Permits are at the discretion of the department chair. Permission must be sought from the Academic Department in which the course(s) reside. For example, a permit for an English course would require approval from the department chair in Languages and Literature. Below are the registration restrictions that require permits from the academic department chair.
Pre-Requisite and Test Score Error – This error indicates you have not taken or successfully completed the courses required to complete prior to taking the course. It also could mean that you need the Enhanced Section of a course.
Co-Requisite Error – This error indicates a co-requisite is required with the course you are attempting to register. If you have completed the co-requisite course required, you would have to request a permit in order to register for the remaining course.
Capacity/Closed Course Error – The course has reached the course capacity set by the department. You must speak to the department chair to request a permit into the section. It is up to the department chair's discretion on if they allow students into the section past the set capacity.
