Our mission is to assist students in making a successful transition from academia to the world of work by equipping them with the tools to take ownership of their professional development for lifelong career satisfaction.
Why do you need Career Services?
Career Services is here to assist you as you make your plan for life after college. Whether that’s entering the workforce or continuing on with graduate school, we want to help you make the most of your time. It’s never to early to start thinking about your career. Our office begins with an end in mind!
What if I have no idea what I want to do?
That’s OK. We offer one-on-one counseling and career assessments that will allow us
to guide you through your decision making process. You can also use, “What Can I Do
Major ...,” a tool that allows you to see the many career possibilities that are likely from particular majors. In addition, our on-campus recruiting events will give you an opportunity to explore the many options that await you.
I just need help with my resume. Can you do that?
Yes. You can email your resume, cover letter, and references to firstname.lastname@example.org and within 3 business days, our office will respond with feedback. After you receive the feedback and make the necessary changes, we are happy to set up an appointment with you to go over any remaining questions.
All services are free for students and alumni.
How can I connect with employers?
By signing in to our Jobs4Govs database, you have access to employers nationally,
regionally and locally. You can search for jobs and internships that employers post,
and you can publish your resume so that they can search for you. Also, we host many
networking and on-campus recruitment events for you to discuss opportunities with
employers and hand out your resume.
What other services do you offer?
We offer many services, all to contribute to your professional development. Here is a brief list of services not already mentioned: career assessments, mock interviews, job search strategies, workshops covering various career related topics, walk-in hours where no appointment is needed and library for career related advice and create your four-year plan.
