Govs Volunteer Week
Sign up to participate in the Govs Volunteer Week, a week of opportunities for you to volunteer, learn about local non-profits, and spend some time out of the office/classroom!
We will be partnering with some awesome non-profits, such as:
- Thistle Farms, an enterprise dedicated to helping women survivors of prostitution, trafficking, and addiction. They provide women with safe places to live, jobs, and reinforcing their mantra of "love heals." Our volunteer work will consist of working in their garden, where they grow the ingredients that go into their products. Also, be sure to stick around for a group lunch at the Thistle Farms Cafe after our volunteer work!
- Second Harvest Food Bank's mission is to feed hungry people by providing food to various companies, groups, organizations, and individuals all over Middle Tennessee. We will be working in their food sorting center from 1:30-4pm. Meet us early at Slim & Husky's Pizza for a lunch to fuel our work!
- Manna Cafe aids food insecurity to more than 15% of the population of Montgomery County. They assist our county with food box distribution and serving hot meals. Join us as we volunteer with their hot meal program Thursday night!
- Cumberland River Compact is dedicated to enhancing the health and enjoyment of the Cumberland River. Their work involves stream bank reservation, litter pickups, building rain gardens, and so much more. Join us as we clean up the part of the Cumberland that runs through our own backyard, then join us afterwards for a well deserved lunch at Strawberry Alley!
Transportation for these shifts is limited. Please select that you will need transportation if you are unable to drive yourself or do not have a ride.
